A fairly quiet day today, with 3 singing Chiffchaffs at the west end of the reserve, 12 Snipe west in a single party, a Water Rail and Dabchick on Lavender Marsh, up to 6 Crossbills in the pines, a Stoat on the entrance track, 2 drake Pochard and 18 Avocets on the pools, 2 Egyptian Geese, 5 Buzzards and 4 Marsh Harriers on the grazing marshes, a Lesser Black-backed Gull in fields between Old Hunstanton and Holme, 2 March Moth, 2 March Tubic, 5 Dotted Border, a Mottled Grey and a Hebrew Character in the NOA moth traps, a Common Quaker in my Hunstanton trap and Jack-by-the-Hedge newly in flower in the morning along the entrance track but mown down in its prime by early afternoon. Gardening eh ?
