Anyway, I'll kick off with Mammals. Quite amazingly the first mammal 2014 was not a Muntjac and nor was it a Rabbit! It was in fact a Chinese Water Deer running across the field south of the salting car park, Holme. I've personally not seen much of this species within the patch and could probably count my sightings on one hand but they are becoming a regular feature.
Fungi wise we may have already turned up a first for Ringstead Downs and possibly even the recording area! The fungi in question is Birch Polypore. We don't get much Silver Birch in the area but a few miles south at Dersingham Bog it is extremely common.
And finally, I've noted six plants currently flowering - Herb Robert, Celery-leaved Buttercup, Daisy, Gorse, Bugloss and White Dead-nettle.
Robert
Birds - 92

Mammals - 6 (+1 if you count Homo sapiens)
Fungi - 2
Moths - 1
Nice one!
