Friday 13th June

Another good moth catch last, the highlights being 5 Small Elephant and 4 Privet Hawks, my first ever Green Oak Tortix and Treble Brown Spots, Broad-barred White, Marbled Brown and a Pale Mottled Willow. The NOA traps contained a Twin Spot Carpet, Barred Red, Barred Straw, Striped Wainscott, a Small Clouded Brindle and much, much else. Large numbers of butterflies were on the wing in the dunes, including my first Meadow Brown (many tens), Ringlet (2) and my second and third Large Skippers of the year. Day flying moths included Latticed Heath and the first 6-spot Burnet and Narrow-bordered 5-spot Burnets of the year.
