Sometimes my job as a birdwatching guide allows a true mix of business & pleasure! This morning I guided a lovely couple around Holme, with heavy rain at dawn we headed for Holme village hides, a pair of Bullfinch along the path. From the hide 3 year ticks for me, the first well overdue was Wren, then 6 Gadwall on the pool & 20 more were flushed in the distance by a couple of Marsh Harrier & also 3 Redwing flew over, these are pretty thin on the ground at present!
Barn Owl was hunting on the grazing marsh, still plenty of birds offshore c20 Red-throated Diver, c30 Great Crested Grebe, c10 Red-breasted Merganser & some nice skeins of Brent's & Pink-footed Geese. We finished off with a nice flock of c60 Snow Bunting.
90 species.
